Two of our Tri-State Carriers cement tankers in Florida have been painted with the US nationally recognised "Don't Hang Out In The No-Zone" campaign message.
Now in its 12th year, the campaign was created by the US Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and is designed to create awareness about the dangers of driving in truckers' blind spots. Working in conjunction with FMCSA, the Florida Department of Transportation and our local Community Traffic Safety Team, Tri-State Carriers will help provide demonstrations at local high schools, shopping centres and at special events.
Demonstrations enable our drivers to discuss the importance of sharing the road with big trucks and the dangers of driving in their blind areas. Participants experience first hand what it's like to be in the driver's seat and how cars "disappear" from a driver's view in the No-Zone. Participants learn about other limitations including maneuverability and stopping distance, and are given a "Share The Road Safely" brochure.
Demonstrator drivers representing Rinker Materials Transport are owner operators with exceptional safety records. Rodolfo (Rudy) Rodriguez has been with Tri-State Carriers since 1999 and has 32 years driving experience without an accident. He has a great relationship with customers and can be counted on to do the "right thing". "Since driving the No-Zone trailer, people wave all the time and give me the thumbs up," says Rudy.
"I've always wanted to drive a truck," says Yvonne Agudelo, another professional driver for the past four years. "It's in my blood. I remember growing up in Ecuador and riding with my dad on weekends and short trips. I waited until my three children were older before I began my driving career but since then I've never looked back."
We are proud of our drivers and their contribution to driving safely on the roads.
